PHARMACOPOEIA

The dissolution rate means the speed and degree of dissolution of drugs from common preparations such as tablets, capsules, or granules under prescribed conditions. It is also known as release in sustained release preparations, controlled release preparations, enteric-coated preparations, transdermal patches and other preparations.

A drug dissolution/release apparatus is a piece of equipment that uses an in-vitro apparatus to simulate the in-vivo dissolution and release process of drugs, an effective alternative method for the research and evaluation of drug bioavailability in vivo, and also a piece of core equipment to ensure and measure the rationality and stability of the production process and quality of pharmaceutical preparations.

Drug dissolution/release apparatuses are designed based on the provisions of pharmacopoeias of various countries. Reciprocating cylinder and flow-through cell were added on the basis of the previous basket apparatus, paddle apparatus, mini vessel, paddle over disc and rotating cylinder in the 2020 edition of the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China. Compared with the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China, the United States Pharmacopoeia has accepted the reciprocating holder but has not accepted the corresponding mini vessel.
